At Leaving Certificate, changes were introduced to the curriculum recently and these changes were examined for the first time in 2012.

There is new emphasis on the spoken language and 40% of the Leaving Certificate Exam is an oral test.

The rest of the exam is based a listening test and written paper. 

Higher and Ordinary Level students study Irish literature including poems and stories and will be required to write pieces ranging from letters, essays, and stories.  Both levels will be required to do reading comprehension exercises in. the exam.

Students also have the option of taking the Foundation level examination.
